Fun Events Happening in YEG for Spring/Summer 2022

​​As Edmontonians, we are lucky to have a wealth of events and activities to take part in throughout the year. Here is a list of just some of the events that will be happening in our city in the coming weeks and months! Whether you’re looking for something to do with your family, friends, or date, there’s sure to be an event that piques your interest. Mamma Mia!

When? April 12 – June 12, 2022

Mamma Mia is the ultimate feel-good show; an enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship, set to the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless hits including Dancing Queen, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, SOS, The Winner Takes it All, Take a Chance On Me and so many more! The Mayfield Dinner Theatre offers entertainment and dining packages, helping you save on your night out! 

Edmonton Jewish Film Festival

When? May 10, 2022 – May 18, 2022
Where? Online & In-Person At The Edmonton Public Library Downtown

Explore Jewish culture and history through a free film festival, The Edmonton Jewish Film Festival (EJFF). The Edmonton Jewish Film Festival (EJFF) celebrates Jewish culture, identity, religion and history, through film. Organised by the Jewish Federation of Edmonton, the EJFF is one of the largest Jewish cultural events in our city. This year, the Edmonton Jewish Film Festival is screening films in person and online. Visit the website to see the upcoming schedule. 

Edmonton Craft Beer Festival

When? June 3, 2022 – June 4, 2022
Where? Edmonton Expo Centre 7515 118 Ave NW, Edmonton

One of the fastest-growing beer festivals in the world, The Edmonton Craft Beer Festival, is a chance for Edmontonians to come together and taste some of the best craft beers from around the province. With over 500 beers from 100+ breweries, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! The Edmonton Craft Beer Festival offers tons of great food and music on top of the sampling. Your biggest challenge will truly be deciding where to start. Whether you’re a beer expert or a beginner, there’s plenty to explore at the festival. The Edmonton Craft Beer Festival is a sampling event. This is an 18+ event so be sure to bring a government issued ID.


When? July 22, 2022 – July 31, 2022
Where? Edmonton Expo Centre, 7515 118 Ave NW, Edmonton

After being cancelled for two consecutive years due to the pandemic, K-Days is returning for the summer of 2022! This festival provides some of the oldest traditions in the City of Edmonton and the Province of Alberta with some of today’s favourite entertainment. 

K-Days draws hundreds of thousands each year, all looking to enjoy fun activities while learning more about the City of Edmonton and its history. Held in and around the Edmonton Exhibition Centre, K-Days is the summer festival experience for all; from fun and exhilarating rides to music and mini donuts.

Taste Of Edmonton 

When? July 21 – July 31, 2022
Where? Sir Winston Churchill Square

Every summer, Edmontonians flock to Churchill Square, where all of the city’s best food and drinks are gathered for citizens to taste. Due to the global pandemic, The Taste of Edmonton was postponed in 2020, but continued to host in 2021. 

We have good news. The Taste of Edmonton will be open again for summer 2022! As Western Canada’s largest food festival , The Taste of Edmonton highlights Edmonton’s food scene. Try dishes from over 50 locally owned restaurants & food trucks while listening to amazing music. Gluten-free, vegan, jazz or folk music, the Taste of Edmonton has it. 

Edmonton Heritage Festival

When? July 30, 2022 – August 1, 2022
Where? Hawrelak Park 9330 Groat Rd NW, Edmonton

The Edmonton Heritage Festival is a three-day event showcasing and celebrating Canada’s multicultural heritage. The Festival allows you to sample culinary treats, take in creative entertainment, and celebrate Canada’s diversity. Hosted throughout Hawrelak Park, the Edmonton Heritage Festival provides opportunities for local communities and their organizations to showcase their ethnic roots and culture to a large audience. 

For 2022, there will be NO food tickets for sale. Food and goods are to be purchased directly from the pavilions by credit or debit only. Click here for more information about the festival.

Edmonton Folk Music Festival

When? August 4, 2022 – August 7, 2022
Where? Gallagher Park 9505 96 Ave NW, Edmonton

Each year on the second weekend in August, The Edmonton Folk Music Festival is staged in the beautiful downtown Gallagher Park. The festival offers spectators and performers, from all around the world, a four-day music event.  Having started in 1980 (with one staff member and 300 volunteers) the Edmonton Folk Music Festival has grown to become one of the leading folk festivals in the world!

The Fringe

When? August 11 – August 21, 2022
Where? Old Strathcona

Held near Old Strathcona and Whyte Avenue, the Edmonton Fringe Festival is North America’s oldest and largest fringe festival! The Edmonton Fringe Festival™ hosts nearly 1600 local, national, and international artists. The artists perform in over 1200 indoor locations in some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Walterdale Playhouse, the ATB Financial Arts Barns, and the Varscona Theatre. If you’re a family with young ones, the Fringe even offers family friendly performances,  Theatre for Young Audience shows, and KidsFringe; a park dedicated to those with newborns and young children! 

The Fringe offers fun, creative activities and performances for everyone, of all ages. There really is no other festival like the Fringe that cultivates and fosters artistic exploration. Don’t miss it!

As you can see, there’s lots to do for Spring and Summer 2022, here in Edmonton. If you’re a concert go-er, you can keep up on live performances here at Edmonton Theatre. One of Edmonton’s most vibrant shopping districts, 124th Street, is full of the city’s finest local independent restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries & so much more. Explore Edmonton has actually created a weekend itinerary for 124th Street, and 124th Street only! Luckily for Edmontonians, organizations like Explore Edmonton exist and make finding your next adventure easy. Look through the different shops and restaurants available on the strip, and plan a fun weekend around them. Whether you’re looking for music, theatre, or just some good old-fashioned fun, you’re sure to find it in Edmonton this Spring/Summer 2022!
